What is Industrial Investors?
Industrial Investors is a leading independent Russian private equity group. Industrial Investors generates extraordinary returns to its investors by employing an industrialist approach to its investments with strong focus on some limited sectors, where it is capable to leverage out significant operational and financial expertise. Industrial Investors operates in Russia and the former USSR, where it has a unique understanding of the business culture. To date, its key sectors are transportation, coal mining, sugar processing, beverage & spirits, biotechnologies, agricultural machinery, raw materials and natural resources (with the exception of oil and gas). It is not excluded that in the future, Industrial Investors will look at other sectors.
Who owns Industrial Investors?
Sergey Generalov is the majority shareholder of Industrial Investors. Several managing partners and members of top management are partners of Industrial Investors in the concrete ventures they support or manage.
Is industrial investors affiliated with any other industrial financial group?
No. Industrial Investors is a totally independent industrialist private equity group. It is not affiliated to any other group and its shareholders have no affiliation to any other financial or industrial group.
Is Industrial Investors a fund?
Industrial Investors is an investment management company. To date it manages a group of portfolio companies, which in their respective sectors are dominant players on the Russian/CIS market.
Are portfolio companies managed by Industrial investors funds?
None of the portfolio companies is a fund. Industrial Investors' success has been, among other elements, relying on successful consolidation strategies. All portfolio companies managed by Industrial Investors, as a result of successful consolidations, are holding companies to a group of core companies.
Industrial Investors puts significant emphasis on the quality of the management team of each separate subsidiary company, so that the management teams at holding company level focus on further acquisitions and on managing all aspects, which are common to subsidiary companies, thus enhancing the creation of value to our shareholders through the creation and management of synergies and the development of economies of scale.
Does Sergey Generalov's former functions of Minister of Energy and Natural Resources of Russia or Deputy of the Russian Parliament impact in any way the investments managed by Industrial Investors?
No. Sergey Generalov has totally retired from public service and is fully dedicated to Industrial Investors.
How does Industrial Investors make the difference from other private equity firms (Russian or foreign) investing in Russia and the former USSR?
Industrial Investors' local market knowledge sets it apart from international private equity firms operating in Russia, while its independence and set of expertise set it apart from other Russian financial industrial groups. Although almost all investment professionals employed by Industrial Investors and by its portfolio companies operate in their home country, almost all have had international professional experience and are able to apply sophisticated corporate governance principles to business in Russia with the success evidenced by its track record.
Moreover, in all its investments, the principals of Industrial Investors invest their own money and are, with some few exception, the largest single investor. The interests of Industrial Investors and its principals are therefore fully aligned to the interests of all shareholders in its portfolio companies.
